The McLean High School journalism program recently was honored by the General Assembly for receiving the First Amendment Freedom Award for the seventh consecutive year.

The accomplishments “are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-journalists and the guidance of their teachers, and the unwavering support of their facilities and the entire McLean High School community,” noted the resolution, which passed both houses of the legislature without dissent.

The First Amendment award is presented annually at the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association convention.
