A Vienna Police officer on May 16 at 10:51 p.m. observed a man who allegedly was drinking alcohol in public and exhibiting signs of intoxication in the 200 block of Cedar Lane, S.E.
When the officer approached, the man reportedly attempted to flee the area. After a short foot pursuit, the officer arrested the 27-year-old Vienna man. During the arrest, the man allegedly assaulted the officer, causing minor injury to the officer’s face.
Police transported the man to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where authorities charged him with public drunkenness, felony assault on a police officer and obstruction of justice.
