Many on hand for second annual Get Healthy Vienna Expo 2024

Former standout athletes participate in panel discussion

Hundreds attended the second annual Get Healthy Vienna! Expo 2024 inside the Vienna Community Center on April 6.

Those on hand viewed dozens of health booths and displays of area businesses, were entertained by the local Superheroes, there were giveaways, prizes, face-painting, family-fitness demonstrations and activities. There also was a panel discussion where four former standout youth, high school and college athletes from Vienna reflected on how participating in various sports and playing at multiple levels significantly impacted and shaped their lives in positives manners, mentally and physically.

The event was presented by the Vienna Business Association.

During the panel discussion, Katie Kerrigan, Nick Dorka, Jack Traxler and Trey Ramsey, who all attended Vienna’s Madison High School, spoke freely about their many experiences.

All four played sports in the Vienna Youth Inc. programs, as well as at Madison, then in college. In the case of Kerrigan and Dorka, they played on professional levels in women’s lacrosse and football, respectively.

Kerrigan’s mother, Karen, of the Vienna Business Association, led the discussion.

Karen Kerrigan said the plan is for the event to keep getting bigger and better each year, maybe expanding to outside activities.
