Local athletes place high at Ramtastic track and field meet

Langley, Madison relays win girls, boys 4x800 races

There were three individual champions and two relay winners from local schools at the Ramtastic Invitational track and field high-school meet, held in the fog and drizzle April 27 at Robinson Secondary School.

Individual champions were Madison Warhawks’ sprinter Dominic Knicely in the boys 100-meters (10.77), his teammate Paul Sullivan in the boys 110 hurdles (16.03) and the Langley Saxons’ Blake Thompson in the boys discus (152 feet).

The relay winners were the 4x800 squads, where the Madison boys (8:24.43) and Langley girls (10:03.87) finished first.

The Madison relay was made up of Andrew Jolley, Noah Roberts, Jamie Fraser and Rohit Kamath. The Langley team consisted of Hazel Calway, Lisa Pesavento, Madeleine Spanner and Olivia Kuehl.

Thompson also had a second-place finish in the shot put (45-feet, 8.5 inches).

Also second was Flint Hill Huskies’ sprinter Andrew King in the boys 100 (10.88) and Flint Hill’s Clara Stevens in the girls discus (92-4.5).

Third were Langley’s Zoey McFadyen in the girls 100 and the Oakton Cougars’ Thomas Gannon in the boys pole vault.

Fourth were Flint Hill’s Anwar Smith in the boys shot and his teammate Bryce Stewart in the boys high jump.

King had a fifth in the boys 200.

Also fifth was Madison’s Maya Gupta in the girls triple jump.

Flint Hill’s Chanel Harvey was sixth in the  girls shot, Langley’s Adam Kerr was sixth in the boys triple jump and Madison’s Gabrielle Antoine was seventh in the girls 100 and 200.
