Five local teams will compete this summer against one from outside the GazetteLeader area in the premier division of the Northern Virginia Swimming League.

The Donaldson Run Thunderbolts and Overlee Flying Fish of Arlington will join McLean’s Highlands Swim Club Whomping Turtles, Chesterbrook Tiger Sharks and defending champion Tuckahoe Tigers. The five are joined by Old Keene Mill of Burke, which moved up to Division 1 as the McLean Marlins fell from Division 1 to Division 2 in the 17-division, 102-team league.

Tuckahoe won the Division 1 title last season with a 5-0 record. Overlee, in Division 1 for the 62nd straight season, was second at 4-1.

The NVSL’s five-week regular season begins Saturday, June 15 with 9 a.m. meets. In those Division 1 events, Donaldson Run hosts Tuckahoe, Overlee visits Highlands, and Chesterbrook hosts Old Keene Mill.
