Oakcrest girls finish fourth in conference swim, dive meet

Chargers were led by one swimmer who won two races

Led by double race-winner Elizabeth Bryan, and Elliott Rowan with two third-place finishes, the Oakcrest Chargers placed fourth in the recent Virginia Christian Athletic Conference girls swimming and diving high-school  championships.

Oakcrest had 229 points. Trinity Christian School won with 310 at the Freedom Aquatics and Fitness Center in Manassas.

Bryan won the 200 individual medley in 2:07.21 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.19. Rowan was third in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Both are summer swimmers in the Northern Virginia Swimming League, Rowan a member of the Vienna Woods squad.

Oakcrest’s other winner was senior diver Norah Kissinger with a 3:01.7 point total.  She also finished 14th in the 50 freestyle swimming race and was a member of the team’s 200 free relay.

Also in diving, Mary Abela was third and Louise Guenther seventh.

In other swim races for Oakcrest, Lindley Hazelwood was third in the 500 free and fourth in the IM and Mae Mae McNichols fourth in the 200 free and seventh in the 100 free. Also, Emaline Cinotti, Amelia Magee and Charlotte Heinrichs had two top-16 finishes; the medley relay, made up of Bryan, Rowan, McNichols and Katelyn Erickson, was third, as was the 400 free relay. The 200 free relay was fifth.

Erickson was eighth in the 50 free and Teresa Yoshihara was eighth in the breast.

Among other swimmers in the meet for Oakcrest were Juliet Van Meter, Catherine Mochen, Brigita Eschmann, Elle Larson and Stella Oberg.
