Former Langley High School cross country and track and field head coach Mike Mangan recently was inducted in the track and field Hall of Fame at Lake Braddock Secondary School.

Mangan coached the same teams at Lake Braddock for some 20 years, taking those positions after leaving Langley.

His girls and boys teams at both Langley and Lake Braddock were always among the tops in district, region and state competitions, winning multiple championships. He coached at Langley from 1987 to 2000.

At both schools, he coached runners who became standouts in college, with some even making the U.S. Olympic trials.

Mangan is now the head cross country and track and field coach at Webber International University in Florida.

Former runners inducted into the Lake Braddock Track and Field Hall of Fame along with Mangan were Katy Kunc, Hannah Christen, Kelsey Snowden, Melanie Akwule, Alex Corbett and Colin Schaefer. They all ran for Mangan.
