Marshall High School has named Chris Denny as its head boys volleyball coach for what is anticipated to be a varsity team for the first time this coming fall season.

Previously, boys volleyball was a club team in Fairfax County Schools, but that status is expected to be chance to full varsity for the 2024 fall campaign.

Denny brings 30 years of involvement in volleyball to Marshall. He played collegiately at Division I the University of Pacific and finished locally at George Mason University.

After college, Denny played in a top-level adult league, where his team won a national championship and had other multiple top 10 finishes.

As a volleyball coach, Denny has worked in the Galaxy League in Northern Virginia,  at summer camps at George Mason and recently in the McLean Youth fall league.

There will be an interest meeting for prospective Marshall boys volleyball players April 4 at 9:45 a.m. in the auxiliary gym at Marshall.

Boys volleyball will join girls varsity volleyball during the fall season.

Other Fairfax County Schools also will be naming boys volleyball coaches in coming weeks.
