Flint Hill School junior guard/forward Raigan McCalla scored her 1,000th career point in girls high-school basketball this season.

The team didn’t have a strong season, but individually Raigan McCalla enjoyed a standout girls basketball campaign for the Flint Hill Huskies.

The junior guard/forward not only scored her 1,000th career high-school points during the 2023-24 season, she averaged a double-double each game for points and rebounds. McCalla scored on average 20.1 points each contest while grabbing 12.4 rebounds.

This season, McCalla scored 562 points for the Huskies, giving her 1,228 for her career. That makes her one of the all-time leading scorers in program history for the Flint Hill girls.

She scored her 1,000th point in a Jan. 25 home contest against Holy Child, finishing with 22 points and 17 rebounds in the game.

For her season-long performance, McCalla was chosen to the All-Independent School League’s AA Division team.

“Raigan is a scorer and she can score on all levels,” Flint Hill coach Sedrick Winston said. “She can take the ball to the basket, she can shoot the three and she got a lot of points off offensive rebounding.”

McCalla had many productive games, especially in the two against Northern Virginia rival Potomac School. She scored 22 and 20 points in the contests, having nine and eight rebounds with a total of six steals, as many assists and she made three three-pointers.

As a team, Flint Hill finished 9-20 overall this season and in last place in the upper AA Division of the ISL. The Huskies won the lower A Division last season, and as a result moved up to the AA Division for the 2023-24 campaign. By finishing last, they will drop back to the A Division for next winter.

“We expected this season to be difficult and a challenge, but we started playing better against the AA teams late in the season,” Winston said.

The Huskies earned a Division I state tournament berth as the No. 8 seed and finished 1-1 in the competition. The state berth was the 17th in a row for the Huskies.
