Four years ago – fueled by outside special-interest money, the organizational talents of the far left and the general lethargy of the Fairfax County voting public – Steve Descano snuck in and narrowly snatched the job of commonwealth’s attorney away from its longtime and quite competent incumbent.
In the intervening years, Descano has embarked on a hard-left agenda accompanied by a healthy dose of personal arrogance.
It’s good news that a challenger – Ed Nuttall – has emerged to take on Descano in the Democratic primary. He is a serious contender and has strong backing.
This time around, unlike 2019, we hope voters across Fairfax County will pay attention to the race for top prosecutor. The outcome matters.
