To the editor: From the Great American songbook, “My Life is in this Town.” And McLean is such a town for everyone to celebrate.

A unique town with its own character. A quiet town, a town that has something for everybody and, if you can believe the Realtors, a place that everybody wants to come to.

A place that features a great library and a great McLean Community Center with activities for everyone, young and old. And great parks and restaurants.

All year long, the community center is a wonderful place to meet one’s neighbors and especially enjoy the varied programs at the center’s Alden Theatre.

Treasured also are the parks. One in particular is Clemyjontri Park that is a place for big and little kids, and always full. It attracts people from all over the region.

Another gem in McLean are the restaurants. Ones where the owners are always on site to serve the patrons: The Italian Oven (Sal), the Family Restaurant (George and Pete), Café Tatti (John) and Kazan (Zeynal and Ayhan), to name a few.

On McLean Day, May 17-18, the McLean Community Center is holding elections for four open seats on its Governing Board. It is an opportunity for everyone on those days to meet the candidates and to vote.

Three candidates seem to have outstanding qualifications to serve on the Governing Board. Mike Drabyk, Peggy Richardson and Ron Keesing deserve everyone’s consideration and vote. Attendees can enjoy carnival rides on Friday and the festival on Saturday. Come out, meet your neighbors, enjoy the festivities and make sure you vote for the Governing Board candidates.

McLean deserves to be recognized, supported and applauded for what it has to offer.

Fairborz Fatemi, McLean
