Speed-walking was part of the 2023 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics competition – and competitors weren't deterred by rain that made an appearance during their rounds.

Registration opens July 1 for the 2024 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics, which will bring 83 events across 26 venues to the local area in September.

“The committee has been hard at work since January planning the 2024 events,” organization chairman Riley Geary said. “Last year, we had well over 900 participants, and we are anticipating even more this year.”

Participants must be at least 50 years old by Dec. 1 and live in Northern Virginia. Events will run Sept. 14-29.

The registration fee of $20 is unchanged from last year, and includes participation in an unlimited number of events. (A few – like cycling, golf and orienteering – require additional fees.)

Registration is online only. A complete schedule of events will be posted before registration opens at www.nvso.us.
