VIENNA WOMAN, 80, KILLED IN PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT IN OAKTON: Fairfax County police are investigating a Sept. 21 pedestrian accident in Oakton that killed an 80-year-old Vienna woman.

County police around 8:42 a.m. that day dispatched officers to the intersection of Hunter Mill Road and Lynnhaven Place after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

The driver remained at the scene, police said.

Preliminarily, detectives determined that the victim, Choon Kook, had entered the crosswalk at the intersection when the driver of a Ford F-150 tried to make a turn into the Oakton Shopping Center from Hunter Mill Road and struck Kook. Rescue personnel transported her to the hospital and she later was pronounced deceased.

The driver then pulled into a nearby parking lot, failed a series of field-sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.
