‘JUNIOR RANGER DAY’: Great Falls National Park will host “Junior Ranger Day” on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park.

“Through a variety of activities, you can learn the mission of the National Park Service to earn a Junior Ranger badge,” park officials said.

The free event is open to all ages, and is part of a free-admission day on April 20 that concides with the first day of National Parks Week. Future free-admission days include June 19, Aug. 4, Sept. 28 and Nov. 11.

ARTIST TO DETAIL HER TECHNIQUE AT McLEAN EVENT: The McLean Art Society will present acclaimed watercolorist Gwen Bragg giving a step-by-step demonstration on her wet-on-wet method on Friday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at the McLean Community Center.

Bragg applies water and paint on paper that is set on Plexiglass and then is repeatedly flipped to create colors that bend and flow.

“Her demonstration promises to be fascinating to watch, witnessing how quickly she must operate, masterfully applying the right balance of water and paint, always watchful, letting the color move on its own and seeing what happens until she has the desired effect,” organizers said.

The community is invited.

‘SENSORY DAY’ COMING TO OLD FIREHOUSE CENTER: The McLean Community Center will host Sensory Day on Saturday, April 27 at 1 to 4 p.m. at the Old Firehouse Center.

“This unique and fun event, supporting Autism Awareness Month, will provide all who attend a sensory exploration through taste, smell, sound, sight and touch,” officials said.

The event is free, but registration is recommended. For information and registration, call (703) 790-0123 or see the Website at www.mcleancenter.org.
