SENIOR CENTER TO LOOK AT ‘PIRATE QUEEN’: The Great Falls Senior Center will present “Grace O’Malley: The Pirate Queen,” a presentation by historical re-enactor Mary Ann Jung, on Tuesdays, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. at the River Bend Country Club.

“This daring leader and trader commanded the west coast of Ireland and an entire fleet of ships in the 1500s,” the organization said. “Grace, also called Grania, fought for Irish rights and faced down Queen Elizabeth of England – with astonishing results.”

The cost is $15 for lunch, and participants are asked to bring a canned-good donation for Cornerstones.

‘SWEETHEART DANCE’ COMING TO McLEAN COMMUNITY CENTER: The McLean Community Center will host a Sweetheart Parent-Child Dance on Friday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event will include light refreshments, a photo booth, DJ playing favorite dance tunes as well as craft projects.

ALDEN THEATRE PROGRAM TO LOOK AT ‘LITTLE ROCK NINE’: Carlotta LaNier will discuss “A Mighty Long Way: My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High School” on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Alden Theatre of the McLean Community Center.

LaNier revisits the story of the “Little Rock Nine” who integrated the high school in 1957 and “led the nation on a turbulent path that challenged prevailing attitudes, broke down barriers and forever changed the landscape of America,” organizers said.

The event is free, but registration is required. A book sale and signing will follow the presentation.
