Good news from the GazetteLeader's weather partner, AccuWeather – the threat of tornadoes across Northern Virginia later in the week seems to have dissipated.

But the weather still is likely to offer a wild ride in coming days.

Wednesday [5/8] and Thursday will bring gusty thunderstorms that offer the possibility of localized flooding, according to updated reporting at GazetteLeader.com/weather.

Hail also is a possibility both days.

Wednesday's temperature will reach into the mid-80s, while Thursday's will be cooler.

By Friday, a stretch of more benign weather appears ready to settle in.
