Fairfax County authorities have charged a District of Columbia man and three juvenile suspects in connection with 15 thefts at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) stores throughout the county.

Since March, detectives have investigated a crew that has been targeting ABC stores, loading carts with alcohol and fleeing in a vehicle before police could arrive, county police said. This crew allegedly has stolen more than $72,000 worth of merchandise, they said.

Authorities in a neighboring jurisdiction on May 27 arrested Jomarice Evans, 27, of Washington, D.C., on unrelated charges. Following an investigation, Fairfax County detectives reportedly linked Evans to multiple ABC thefts within the county.

Authorities have charged Evans with robbery, five counts of grand larceny, five counts of larceny with intent to sell, five counts of transportation of alcohol, five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, destruction of property and organized retail theft. He now is being held in another jurisdiction.

Fairfax County authorities also have identified and charged three juveniles in connection with the thefts.

On June 27, detectives from the police department’s Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested three juveniles in Washington, D.C. All three have been charged with three counts of grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell.
