A driver was traveling southbound on Lawyers Road, N.W., near Holmes Drive, N.W., on Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. when his vehicle struck a parked vehicle, spun around and stopped in the northbound lane facing oncoming traffic, Vienna police said.

The officer detected signs of impairment when interacting with the driver and found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said. Police arrested the driver after he failed to complete a series of field-sobriety tests.

Police took the 42-year-old Vienna man to the Vienna Police Station, where he provided a sample of his breath for analysis. Police then transported the man to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where authorities charged him with driving while intoxicated and having an open alcohol container in a vehicle.
