Wakefield High boys soccer team enjoying solid start to season

Squad has 2-0-1 record over last three matches

The Wakefield High School boys soccer team is at attention for the national anthem prior to the game against host Justice.

With a 2-0-1 record in their past three matches, the Wakefield Warriors are enjoying a solid start to the boys high-school soccer season.

After losing its opening game to Lewis, 3-1, Wakefield has bounced back with wins over Jefferson, 3-0, and Justice, 3-2, and tied Alexandria City, 2-2.

The most recent contest was against Justice in non-district action.

Wakefield rallied to win after falling behind 1-0 at halftime.

The Warriors came to life and started the second half by scoring three goals in eight minutes. Wakefield had one slip up defensively and Justice was able to score a second time.

Wakefield’s goals were scored by Jacob Peale, Luke Kelly and Addis Iskinder Sahle. Graysen Colglazier and Tayt Korejwo had assists.

Wakefield did not play during spring break, but has two non-district matches scheduled in coming days against Chantilly and South County.

• In other boys high-school soccer news, the Washington-Liberty Generals have started the season 3-0.

The non-district victories have been against Annandale and Centreville by 2-1 scores and Jefferson, 3-0.

The Generals had no games scheduled during spring break, but has two non-district matches on tap in coming days.

Washington-Liberty and Wakefield are scheduled to play April 26 at Wakefield in a Liberty District all-Arlington clash. The teams are coached by brothers, Jimmy Carrasquillo of W-L and Eddie Carrasquillo of Wakefield.
