W-L girls and boys soccer teams have identical overall records

The Washington-Liberty Generals girls and boys high-school soccer teams began this week with identical 5-1-1 overall records. In Liberty District play, the girls were 1-0 and the boys 0-1.

In those district games, the girls blanked the McLean Highlanders, 5-0, while the boys lost to McLean, 2-1.

Both Generals' teams played the Madison Warhawks in non-district action in their most recent contests. The girls fell, 2-1, to suffer their first loss, while the boys played to a 1-1 tie.

The Wakefield Warriors had their six-match unbeaten streak ended with a recent 1-0 loss to the Herndon Hornets in a Liberty District boys match. The league contest was the Warriors' first of the season.

In its previous match, Wakefield defeated Meridian, 4-2, in non-district action.

Wakefield's overall mark is 5-2-1.

The Wakefield girls had three wins entering this week's action. Wakefield is 1-0 in the district thanks to a 2-1 victory over Herndon. The Warriors lost to Jefferson, 3-1, in recent non-district play.

In girls action, the Yorktown Patriots fell to 4-4 overall with a 2-0 loss to the Marshall Statesmen in their district opener. Marshall improved to 5-2. The Patriots blanked South Lakes, 2-0, in their previous match.

The Yorktown boys began the week with a 1-5-2 overall record, playing Marshall to a 3-3 tie in recent play. Yorktown tied South County, 1-1, in the match prior to that.

The remainder of the regular season consists of mostly district matches for the Arlington teams.
