Some 150 play in pickleball tournament held in McLean

Event raised money for windscreens at Lewinsville Park

Many of the players get final instructions prior to the start of the pickleball tournament at the McLean Heatlth and Racquet Club.

The McLean Racquet and Health Club, in conjunction with Baroody Camps, recently hosted its first indoor doubles-only pickleball tournament with more than 150 participants for players ages 15 and above.

“The club was busy with amazing energy and excitement throughout the day,” tournament director Nancy Brough said.

The tournament was held to raise money for windscreens at nearby Lewinsville Park.

The club took three tennis courts and marked them to make six indoor pickleball courts.

Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in three different skill levels in  the men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles categories. The event started with men’s doubles.

In men’s doubles: Gold-medal winners were Francisco Lam and Elijah Nachlas at the 3.0 to 3.5 skill level; Khang Dinh Nguyen and John Tran 3.5 to 4.0 and Dylan Goodwin and Josh Golob 4.0 and above.

Silver medalists were Tharith Earasi and Jacob Thomas 3.0 to 3.5, Savo Mendosa and Elliott Hoang 3.5 to 4.0 and Ishan Chattopadhyay and Brain McCulloch 4.0 and above.

Earning bronze were Eduardo Yus and Ryann Lopez 3.0 to 3.5, Danny Chan and Alexander Courembis 3.5 to 4.0 and Andrew Makovsky and Alex Spancake 4.0 and above.

In women’s doubles: Gold-medal winners were Susan Martin and Liz Salak 3.0 to 3.5; Courtenay Geary and Thao Le 3.5 to 4.0 and Alyssa Bialek and Michi Ota 4.0 and above.

Silver medalists were Kathy Rowe and Sandra Brody 3.0 to 3.5, Nicole Kerns and Kristine Hamilton 3.5 to 4.0 and Teresa Lese and Kristen Larrick 4.0 and above.

Earning bronze were Sheri Knight and Sallie Mady 3.0 to 3.5 and Tiffany Perry and Susan Connolly 3.5 to 4.0. There were no 4.0 and above entries.

In mixed doubles: Gold-medal winners were Chris Amolsch and Regina Amolsch 3.0 to 3.5, Vivian Bracero and Rodolfo Perecin Mareno 3.5 to 4.0 and Kristen Chandler and Aaron Chandler 4.0 and above.

Silver medalists were Chris Girolamo and Clare Girolamo 3.0 to 3.5, Nicole Kerns and Michael Kerns 3.5 to 4.0 and Jimmy Brown and Teresa Lese 4.0 and above.

Earning bronze were Steven Law and Dyane Bronson 3.0 to 3.5, Courtenay Geary and Ben Lockshin 3.5 to 4.0 and Dylan Godwin and Sydney Newburn 4.0 and above.
