Ring ceremonies held for Madison baseball and lacrosse teams

Warhawk squads each won state championships back on June 10

Two different 2023 springtime state-champion Madison Warhawks boys high-school teams were honored by receiving state-title rings in recent days during halftime ceremonies of home varsity basketball games.

The night of Jan. 5, the boys lacrosse squad received their rings between halves of the boys contest between Madison and Centreville. The names of the Madison players, manager and coaches were called as they all gathered on the court for a team photo.

The lacrosse team finished 20-2 during the spring, capped by winning its second straight state crown and third in four seasons. The Warhawks finished the 2023 campaign with 13 straight victories, going 3-0 in the state tourney.

At a previous basketball game, the state champion Madison baseball squad was honored in a similar ceremony. Madison won its second baseball crown in three seasons this past spring, its sixth overall and fourth under longtime current head coach Mark Gjormand.

The Warhawks finished the season 23-5 and 3-0 in the state tournament.

Each team won those Virginia High School League Class 6 state-tournament championship games the day of Saturday, June 10 at schools in Loudoun County.
