C.J. Remmo has stepped down as the Potomac School's head football and wrestling coach to take a job at a private school in Oregon.

The Potomac School is in the market to replace two head coaches with the decision by C.J. Remmo to leave the McLean private-school to accept a job in Oregon.

Remmo was the head high-school football coach the past three seasons, as well as the head wrestling coach for the last six. He will finish at the school, then begin his new full-time job in early July as the director of campus operations at Oregon Episcopal School. Remmo will not be coaching at his new job.

“I’m 48 and I’ve coached since I was 22, so this will be a major switch for me,” Remmo told the GazetteLeader. “The change is the right move for our family. It’s an awesome opportunity.”

Remmo’s full-time job at Potomac School held similar operational responsibilities as he will have in Oregon.

As the head football coach, Remmo’s Potomac School Panthers tied for a conference championship in 2022, earned a Division I state-tournament berth and amassed an 8-1 record.

The Panthers finished 5-4 and second in the conference his first season, then struggled to a 1-8 mark this past fall.

Remmo’s wrestling teams annually had high finishes in the league, including two runner-ups this past winter.

Remmo played a big role in Potomac School earning the opportunity to host this past season’s Division I state wrestling tournament.

Remmo’s replacement at the two positions have not yet been filled at the Potomac School. The school might name an interim football coach for the 2024 season, which is fast approaching.
