MAYOR FEATURED AT ‘NARFE’ GATHERING: The Vienna chapter of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees) will meet on Tuesday, May 14 at 1 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center.

Vienna Mayor Linda Colbert will be the featured speaker.

TOWN GOVERNMENT TO HOST WELLNESS, SAFETY EXPO: The Vienna town government will host a senior wellness and safety expo on Friday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center.

Designed for ages 55 and up, the event will feature medical screenings, educational opportunities and local vendors.

OPEN HOUSE WILL MARK PUBLIC WORKS DAY: The Vienna Department of Public Works will mark Public Works Day with an open house on Thursday, May 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Northside Property Yard, 600 Mill St., N.E.

Designed for all ages, participants will be able to tour the facility and get a close-up look at the equipment used for everything from leaf collection and snow removal to public-safety.

Staff will be available to answer questions.

COMMUNITY MEETING SET TO DISCUSS TOWN’S PARKS PLANS: The Vienna town government will host a community meeting to discuss development of its parks-and-recreation planning document – dubbed “Our Plan to Play” – on Thursday, May 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center.

CELEBRATION WILL MARK 25 YEARS OF TEEN CENTER: A celebration marking the 25th anniversary of the Vienna town government’s Club Phoenix Teen Center will be held on Friday, May 17 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the center, located at the Vienna Community Center.

Events begin with a teen-wellness festival from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. featuring live music and dance performances from youth groups.
