Vienna man charged with threatening to blow up police station

44-year-old suspect also hit with obstruction of justice, drunk in public charges

A Vienna police officer on April 14 at 8:15 p.m. observed a man in the 200 block of Cedar Lane, S.E., who appeared to be intoxicated.

Upon interacting with the man, the officer reportedly detected signs of impairment.

Police arrested the 44-year-old Vienna man. While being transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, the man allegedly began to make several statements threatening police and to blow up the police station, authorities said.

The man also allegedly threatened the officer and his family, and continued to act aggressively at the magistrate’s office, police said.

Authorities charged the man with felony threats to bomb, misdemeanor obstruction of justice and being drunk in public. He was held without bond.
