Fairfax Circuit Court officials on May 7 announced the upcoming opening of a new satellite location in Reston, which will provide select services to community members on a recurring once-a-month basis.

The satellite services at Cathy Hudgins Community Center, 12125 Pinecrest Road, are part of the court’s ongoing effort to make services more accessible to residents and expand its footprint in the community at-large, officials said.

Services will be available from 9 a.m. to noon the second Tuesday of every month, starting May 14, and will include processing of marriage-license applications, certified copies of court records and free notary services.

The initiative, led by Fairfax Clerk of Court Chris Falcon in partnership with Fairfax County, and is intended to serve as a pilot for future expansion of services.

“We are very excited to be offering this inaugural location for satellite services,” Falcon said. “This expansion is a testament to our commitment to better serve the community and make Circuit Court resources more accessible. The opening of the new satellite office marks a significant milestone for Fairfax Circuit Court, and we are excited about the opportunities it will bring.”

Fairfax Circuit Court (19th Judicial Circuit) serves residents of Fairfax County and the city of Fairfax City. It is the trial court of general jurisdiction and the largest trial court in Virginia, composed of 15 full-time trial judges.

The court has authority to try a full range of cases, both civil and criminal, jury and non-jury. Its civil matters include a wide variety of business, personal-injury and domestic-relations cases. The court also hears felony criminal cases, which involve crimes that can be punishable up to one year in the state penitentiary, as well as appeals of misdemeanor and traffic cases from the General District and Juvenile courts.
