A Vienna police officer on Feb. 11 at 4:08 a.m. observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the 300 block of Maple Avenue, W., at a  high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon interacting with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment, police said.

The driver failed to complete a series of field-sobriety tests and police arrested him.

Police took the 23-year-old Centreville man to the Vienna Police Station, where he provided a sample of his breath for analysis.

Police then transported the man to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where authorities charged him with driving while intoxicated (second offense within 10 years).
