Newest Circuit Court judge receives official commission

Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Jonathan Frieden.

Jonathan Frieden was presented his official commission as a Fairfax County Circuit Court judge during an April 12 ceremony at the Fairfax County Courthouse.

Del. Rip Sullivan presented the commission and Judge Daniel Ortiz of the Court of Appeals of Virginia administered a ceremonial oath of office for Frieden, who started on the bench in February.

Before being eleced a Circuit Court judge by the General Assembly, Frieden fro five years served as a judge of the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Before taking the bench, Frieden practiced law for 22 years with Odin, Feldman & Pittleman, P.C., where he focused on intellectual property, technology, e-commerce and other complex commercial litigation.

Frieden earned a bachelor of science degree in systems engineering from the University of Virginia and a law degree from the University of Richmond.
