These 30-minute sessions are not CPR-certification courses, but are designed to teach more bystanders how to help until the ambulance arrives.

Each session is limited to 20 people; teenagers are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent.

For information and to register, see the Website at mcleanvfd.org/cpr or e-mail outreach@mcleanvfd.org.

Also, if there are sufficient people at residents’ places of work, houses of worship or community clubs who want to learn hands-only CPR, station leaders would be happy to arrange a visit, they said.

‘SWEETHEART DANCE’ COMING TO McLEAN COMMUNITY CENTER: The McLean Community Center will host a Sweetheart Parent-Child Dance on Friday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event will include light refreshments, a photo booth, DJ playing favorite dance tunes as well as craft projects.

LaNier revisits the story of the “Little Rock Nine” who integrated the high school in 1957 and “led the nation on a turbulent path that challenged prevailing attitudes, broke down barriers and forever changed the landscape of America,” organizers said.

The event is free, but registration is required. A book sale and signing will follow the presentation.
