‘BLUE CHRISTMAS’ SERVICE SET FOR GREAT FALLS: Great Falls Area Ministries is sponsoring a “Blue Christmas” service on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. at the Forestville Schoolhouse, 9812 Georgetown Pike.

The event is “a non-traditional service of remembrance and hope for those who are stressed, lonely or grieving,” organizers said.

The community is invited.

‘LONGEST NIGHT’ WORSHIP SERVICE SET: Lewinsville Presbyterian Church will host a Longest Night worship service on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the church, 1724 Chain Bridge Road in McLean.

The event will intertwine music with scripture, candlelight and reflection.

“If you have experienced loss in the last year, all the holiday festivities can make your grief more poignant,” church officials said. “Grieving the loss of a loved one, or coming to terms with so much loss happening in our world, will be centered in this worship service.”

The community is invited.

CHOIRS TO PERFORM AT CHRISTMAS-EVE SERVICE: Members of the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church youth and young choirs will present “The Light Before Christmas” featuring music from the Joseph Martin musical as part of a Christmas-eve service to be held on Sunday, Dec. 24 at 11 a.m. at the church, 1724 Chain Bridge Road.

“Enjoy cocoa and cookies before and following the service, and feel the warmth of Christmas with us,” church officials said.
