I-66 Express Mobility Partners and Fairfax County Public Schools officials celebrate a grant that will provide support for a summer-enrichment program.

I-66 Express Mobility Partners (I-66 EMP), the builder/operator of the Interstate 66 Express Outside the Beltway lanes, on April 22 donated $2,750 to Fairfax County Public Schools to cover needs-based scholarships for 10 students to attend Tech Adventure Camp this summer.

The camp is a weekly summer enrichment program offering elementary-age students in Fairfax County the opportunity to explore subjects such as science, technology, engineering, math, art, health, business, marketing, technical trades and more.

“STEM-education programs like the Tech Adventure Camp are exactly what we strive to support here in Northern Virginia,” said Nancy Smith, corporate-affairs director for I-66 EMP. “We’re happy to build upon our great partnership with Fairfax County Public Schools, and we’re excited to see what innovative ideas these students come up with.”

“We’re extremely pleased to receive this donation from I-66 Express Mobility Partners,” said Lynette Henry, executive director of Educate Fairfax, a foundation affiliated with the school system. “This money will give 10 deserving students facing economic hardship the chance to experience Fairfax County Public Schools’ Tech Adventure Camp and inspire their future careers.”

During 2023, I-66 EMP contributed a total of $25,000 to Educate Fairfa. That total includes a $5,000 donation to the Kids in Need Fund, which provides essential school supplies for students from disadvantaged households, and $20,000 to provide lab equipment and programming for the STEM-oriented Innovators Fund.
