Temperatures may reach 80 degrees Monday before falling back into the 70s for a few days

Just a couple of days ago, weather forecasters were predicting highs in the mid-80s next week across Northern Virginia.

Those expectations have since been tempered, with Monday’s high of around 80 perhaps being the high point of the week.

“Very warm with sunshine and patchy clouds” is how the GazetteLeader’s official weather partner, AccuWeather, describes Monday.  That same pattern, with highs in the upper 70s, will continue on Tuesday, with more clouds but still temperatures in the mid-70s on Wednesday.

A cooling trend follows.

And you may have noticed that hours of daylight is increasing rapidly as spring rolls on. Today, total daylight will be 13 hours and 10 minutes, with sunrise at 6:35 a.m. and sunset at 7:45 p.m.
