Democrat Jimmy Bierman Jr. was holding a strong lead over Republican Puneet Ahluwalia for the Dranesville District seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
Incumbent Supervisor John Foust did not seek re-election.
Though at one time competitive between the parties, Dranesville has tacked more Democratic in recent years, making it an uphill climb for any Republican.
