Northern Virginia will be dodging the wrath of Mother Nature on Memorial Day, according to the GazetteLeader’s official weather partner, AccuWeather.

“A heavy thunderstorm – thunderstorms can bring flooding downpours, hail and damaging wind gusts,” is on the horizon for Monday [May 27], which will prove cooler than Saturday-Sunday but just as humid.

And the challenges aren’t over when the sun goes down, as Monday evening holds the potential for drenching evening thunderstorms with flooding and damaging wind gusts, AccuWeather says.

Things then get better, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday cooler, sunny and with less humidity.
