The Fairfax County Park Authority will host programming with a War of 1812 theme on Sunday, Nov. 5 from noon to 3 p.m. at Colvin Run Mill Historic Site in Great Falls.

“This is not just history – it’s history with a twist. Engaging, interactive and family friendly,” organizers said. “Discover unsung heroes who made extraordinary contributions during these challenging times.”

Events will include participation by Ship’s Company, a re-enactor group, which will provide an up-close view of what it was like to be a sailor during the war. (There also will be samples of naval pudding, a treat cherished by sailors during the era.)

Admission is $10 per person. For information and registration, see the Website at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/colvin-run-mill.
