A team from BASIS Independent McLean won the Virginia State Science Bowl, hosted by the Thomas Jefferson National Lab in Newport News.
The squad – Delia Acosta, Sumer Chaduhary, Zain Marshall and Rosalia Acosta – played eight games and came away undefeated.
The team will now represent Virginia at the National Science Bowl, where the top 16 teams will earn cash grants of $1,000 to $5,000 for their schools
