Although down slightly from a month before, the median apartment rent in Tysons was the priciest across the Washington region in new data.

With a median rental cost of $2,265 for one-bedroom units and $2,716 for two bedrooms – working out to $2,491 overall – the rental rate was tops among 28 localities of the Washington metropolitan area surveyed by Apartment List.

Figures for December were reported Jan. 3. For the Washington region as a whole, the median rent was reported at $2,086, the national median at $1,379.

Median rents in Tysons were down 1.5 percent month over month (which is typical this time of year) but up 0.3 percent year over year.

Many renters who signed leases in December ended up with relative deals.

“As moving activity slows during the holidays, this is the time of year where renters find the best deals on apartments,” Apartment List analysts said.

“If historical seasonal patterns hold, rent growth should heat up once again in early 2024, but a strong supply of new units coming online should moderate prices a bit,” analysts said.
