'Women of Vision' honorees tapped for 2023

Three recipients have been announced for the 2023 “Women of Vision” awards, presented annually by the county government’s Commission on the Status of Women.

Honorees include:

• Krysta Jones, who will be saluted in the non-profit category for her work across the community as “a leader, mentor and connector, raising and amplifying women’s voices,” commission officials said.

• Karen Rosales, president/CEO of Arlington Community Federal Credit Union, will be honored in the business category for her work to “uplift women through thoughtful lending and financial empowerment of communities in need,” the commission said.

• Mariflor Ventura, an Arlington Public Schools employee, is being honored in the government category for her work creating Casa Mariflor, which has assisted hundreds of county residents with food and necessities, the commission noted.

The awards will be presented during a ceremony on Monday, March 27 at 7 p.m. at Arlington Economic Development, 1100 North Glebe Road, Suite 1500. A $20 donation is requested.

The Commission on the Status of Women next year will mark its 50th anniversary, having been created as an advisory body by the County Board on May 4, 1974.
