Police: Convicted felon held without bond in brandishing event

Incident occurred following verbal altercation, according to police

On March 26 at 1:04 a.m., a two individuals were inside a vehicle in the unit block of North Glebe Road when they became involved in a verbal dispute, Arlington police said.

During the incident, one of the individuals exited the vehicle and began to walk away, at which time he allegedly brandished a firearm, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Responding officers established a perimeter, located an individual matching a description of the suspect in the 200 block of North Trenton Street and detained him.

The suspect – 34-year-old Jerrell Copeland of Arlington – was arrested and charged with brandishing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, public intoxication and carrying a concealed firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

He was held without bond.
