Get out the calendars, because a number of local organizations have announced plans for candidate forums in advance of the June 18 Democratic Arlington County Board primary.
The Committee of 100 plans to host a gathering of contenders on May 10, while the Arlington Chamber of Commerce will hold a confab on June 6.
In each case, it is expected that all County Board candidates – the five vying for the Democratic nomination and any others who have qualified for the November ballot – will be invited to participate.
Until recent years, it was typical for some community organizations to not hold candidate forums in the spring. But given Arlington’s election proclivities, some added a springtime event to get ahead of the Democratic nominating contest while also holding forums in the fall lead-up to the general election.
