Arlington Senior Democrats returning to in-person luncheons

Gatherings have been online-only since start of COVID

For more than three years owing to COVID, the Arlington Senior Democrats group has held its monthly luncheons in an online setting.

That is about to change. And to prove one is never too senior to try something new, the location will represent a departure from its typical pre-COVID spot.

The informal group plans to meet on Tuesday, June 13 at noon at Ramparts Restaurant. While technically located in Alexandria, it is, organizers note, just 500 feet outside the Arlington line in Fairlington.

The cost will be $30 per person, with a choice of entrées: grilled chicken salad, BBQ pulled pork, bourbon-cheddar burger, chicken penne or shrimp and grits. Those planning on attending are asked to pre-order at https://bit.ly/3BbV830. (Vegan and vegetarian options are available by request.)

Typically, the organization hears from one or more speakers during its gatherings. With the crowded Democratic primary slated for exactly one week after the meeting, there should be plenty for the group to talk about.

The last in-person gathering of Arlington Senior Democrats – featuring presentations by candidates for School Board that year – was held in March 2020 at Busboys & Poets in Shirlington. The rest, as they say, was history.
