Vienna police: Driver with a need for speed nabbed for DWI

On Sept. 12 at 2:22 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed at Chain Bridge Road and Babcock Road, Vienna police said.

Upon interaction with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment, police said. The officer found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said.

After failing a series of field-sobriety tests, the suspect was placed under arrest. The 36-year-old Annandale man was transported to Vienna Police Headquarters, where he provided a sample of his breath for analysis.

The suspect then was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated, drinking while driving and reckless driving.
