The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on July 25 tapped Matt Colsia to a recently vacated seat on the McLean Community Center Governing Board.
Colsia succeeds Shivani Saboo, who resigned from the body earlier in the month due to a job transition.
Colsia finished fourth in the spring Governing Board election, behind the three who were appointed by the Board of Supervisors to the posts. Under the agreement between the community center and supervisors, the unsuccessful candidate from the most recent board election who received the most votes will be appointed to a departing member’s unexpired term.
Colsia is a three-year resident of McLean and recently retired from the U.S. Army, where he held numerous leadership positions.
Saboo had served on the Governing Board for two years, including as treasurer and head of the nominations and elections committee.
MCC executive director Betsy May-Salazar thanked Saboo for her two years of service on the board.
“Shivani has been a dedicated and hard-working member of the board,” May-Salazar said. “She championed programs for young adults and brought fresh energy and innovation to all the projects she was assigned to work on.”
