River Bend, Westwood swimmers place high at all-star meet

Gilliland wins three races in boys age 9-10 category

Westwood Country Club swimmer Hudson Brown finished second in the girls age 11-12 butterfly race at the Dominion Country Club League's all-star meet and third and fifth in other races.

The River Bend Stingrays and Westwood Whirlwinds summer swimming teams each had three individual winners at the Dominion Country Club’s season-ending individual all-star meet.

River Bend’s Patrick Gilliland was the big  story of the meet by winning three boys races at the 9-10 age group. He was first in the freestyle (33.45), backstroke (33.18) and individual medley (1:15.44).

Also for River Bend, James Buchanan won the boys 8-under breaststroke (24.93) and Maya Peery won the girls 13-14 breast (37.12) and was fourth in the IM.

In addition for River Bend, Matthew Seibold was second in the boys 13-14 butterfly and back and fourth in the IM.

Winners for Westwood were Todd Landwehr in the boys 15-18 IM (1:04.76), Naomi Rosner won the girls 11-12 breast (41.84) and Audrey McKeen was first in the girls 15-18 breast (34.7).

McKeen also was second in the IM and free and Landwehr was second in the free and third in the back.

Other Westwood standouts were Grace Suh with a second in the girls 9-10 breast,  a fourth in the fly and fifth in the IM; Emme Han with a second in the girls 9-10 IM and third in the back and free; and Hudson Brown was second in the girls 9-10 fly, third in the free and fifth in the breast.
