The Oakton Cougars snapped a two-season 10-game losing streak with a 13-7 road victory over the W.T. Woodson Cavaliers in non-district high-school football action.

The game began the night of Sept. 8 in Fairfax,  but was stopped because of weather issues then finished the next morning. Oakton led 13-0 at halftime, then held on the second day of the contest.

Oakton’s touchdowns came on long passes from Samar Kaul to John Mead for 45 yards, then to Daniel Knight for 50.

Oakton passed for 288 yards in the game.

The seven points Oakton allowed were the fewest in a game since the Cougars began the 2022 season with back-to-back shutouts. One of those victories was a 35-0 game two win over W.T. Woodson.
