Mistakes costly as Langley football team falls to Edison

The Langley Saxons (2-1) lost at home to the Edison Eagles, 22-14, in a high-school football game that began Sept. 8, before storms postponed the finish until the next afternoon.

Langley led 14-7 when the game was stopped on Sept. 8, then didn’t score again. Langley was hurt by three turnovers and was outgained in total yards, 283-249.

Quarterback Cole Samburg on a four-yard run and Eli Dyrud on a 26-yard pass from Samburg scored Langley’s two touchdowns, with Mateo Arboleda booting two extra points.

Samburg passed for 88 yards and ran for 52 to lead the Langley offense. Robert Roncskevitz had 61 yards rushing for Langley, with Mark Muehlheuser and Cannon Clarke having 18 each.

Dyrud and Blake pulled in two apiece.

On defense for Langley, Roncskevitz, Gannon Pascual, Chandler Bowles, Max Anderson, Owen Slamowitz and Chase Langpaul were leading tacklers. Slamowitz and Langpaul had sacks, and Kelly recovered a fumble.
