Marshall blanks Justice in football, stays undefeated at 3-0

The 3-0 start is team's best since the 2006 season

The Marshall Statesmen blanked the host Justice Wolves, 34-0, in non-district football action the night of Sept. 8.

The Marshall Statesmen improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2006 high-school football season with a 34-0 non-district road victory over the Justice Wolves on Sept. 8.

In the win, Sam Morales ran for two touchdowns in a game that was ended in the third quarter because of lightning. Ethan Lebkisher opened the scoring for Marshall on a four-yard touchdown run. Marshall increased the lead to 14-0 on a 32-yard interception return by Derek Lenert.

Morales’ first touchdown came on a 64-yard run that made it 21-0 after one of Jihwan Park's four extra points.

An interception by Aidan Rhyu set up a short field for the Statesmen, who scored on an 11-yard run from John Zabrowski and led 28-0 at halftime.In the third quarter Morales’ second TD was an eight-yard run for the 34-0 final total.

Marshall also blocked a punt in the game.

The Statesmen were driving again when the game was halted because of lightning with roughly four minutes left in the third. 

Marshall has averaged 37 points in its first three games. Morales, with five TDs this season, leads the team in scoring.
