New National Hurricane Center projections suggest that Northern Virginia won't need to worry about tropical-storm winds (39 mph and higher sustained) as whatever remains of Tropical Storm Debby passes by the region later in the week.
The local area is to the west of the current cone of tropical-storm conditions, although that path could change substantially in coming days.
While there may be no direct hit, the area will see ancillary impacts, including, potentially, heavy rains and windy conditions.
