Yorktown High boys swim and dive team finishes fourth in region meet

Junior swimmer leads Patriots by winning two races

The Yorktown High School boys swim and dive team finished fourth in the region championships.

In the boys 6D North Region swim and dive championships, the defending champion Yorktown Patriots finished fourth, more than 100 points behind the winning Langley Saxons.

The Yorktown boys were led by double- champion Nolan Dunkel in the 50 freestyle (20.96) and 100 backstroke (49.38) in the high-school meet, with the swim finals Feb. 11 at Oak Marr RECenter in Oakton.

Yorktown’s other victory in a meet came in the 200 free relay. Dunkel, Billy Weber, Colin Sartori and Luke Aslaksen won in 1:25.37.

Noah Robinson was third in the 100 butterfly and fourth in the 100 breaststroke for Yorktown, Rayce Winn was fifth in diving, Aslaksen was ninth in the 50 and 100 free races and the 400 free relay was third, consisting of Dunkel, Robinson, Sartori and Aslaksen.

The team’s medley relay placed sixth and Porter Parish was eighth in diving.
