Yorktown grad starts for Brigham Young football team

Injury ends defensive back's season after five games

Yorktown High School football graduate Tanner Wall earned a starting roll for Brigham Young this fall.

Yorktown High School graduate Tanner Wall played in five games and started three as a defensive back before suffering a season-ending injury for the Brigham Young University football team during the 2023 fall campaign

Wall made 22 tackles, including eight solo tackles, with 14 assists. He made a season-high six tackles with five assists against Arkansas and also had six tackles against Kansas.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Wall played mainly on special teams his first two seasons for BYU. He played in 11 games in 2022.  

At Yorktown, Wall was a two-way starter for the football team at multiple positions, including quarterback, and also returned punts. He gained 1,650 all-purpose yards his senior season when he was chosen the Liberty District Offensive Player of the Year.Wall also was a standout baseball player at Yorktown.
